#SundinAngPuso: Pepsi celebrates all kinds of passions at #PepsiPusoFest

May 17, 2019 -- Pepsi recently brought everyone together for #PepsiPusoFest, a fun-filled day of singing, dancing, styling and games for those who live and celebrate their passions. Held at Market! Market!, the #PepsiPusoFest became an avenue for everyone to express themselves freely for the love of different passion points through interactive and fun activities.

Up and coming artists such as Renee Dominique and Dominique Casacop took the stage to show off their vocal stylings while A-Team and Upeepz pumped up the jam with their dance routines. A showcase of out of the box skills was also exhibited throughout the program with basketball tricks by Hype Streetball, pen-tapping by Dineson Caneda, beatboxing by Neil Rey Llanes, freestyle yoyo tricks by champion Miggy Hizon and comedy by Comedy Manila. The guests were also treated to fun games which got them to play with pro volleyball and basketball stars!

The main show included musical performances by Unique and Kiana Valenciano, viral star Mimiyuuh featuring Allmost, along with a dance numbers from AC Bonifacio and America’s Got Talent finalist, Junior New System. Nico Bolzico and Pam Swing were also present to join in on the fun together with their fans! Daniel Padilla also made a very special appearance to serenade his fans and give them treasured possessions that have always been close to his heart. He also reminded everyone to go all out and embrace their passions like never before, together with Pepsi.

Aside from topnotch performances, different activities were also in store for the guests to showcase their talents and get lots of fun prizes. For the Love of Stories, guests were able to take the spotlight to shoot their own rendition of Pepsi’s new jingle entitled Sundin ang Puso in collaboration with global pop group NowUnited. Always wondered what you’d look like with a different hair color? The Love of Style booth gave guests a chance to temporarily transform their hair to a shade they love from the style menu. The Love of Dance gave guests the opportunity to dance to the beat of the Sundin Ang Puso jingle. Lastly, guests were able to dabble into singing and record their performance with their friends in the Love of Singing booth.

“Pepsi’s #SundinAngPuso campaign is all about encouraging Filipinos to pursue the things they have always wanted to do and to be confident in expressing themselves”, says Gutzee Segura, Pepsi Philippines Marketing Manager. “Through the #PepsiPusoFest, we wanted to give Filipinos an avenue to showcase their different passions and embrace whatever they do for the love of it.”

LBC Powers Through North to South with New Warehouses

LBC continues its dominance over the Philippines’ logistics industry with the opening of warehouses to serve customers- all the way from the North down to the South.

Currently in full operations is the 6,300 sqm Kapayapaan Warehouse located within the Mexico Industrial Complex, Brgy. Panipuan, Mexico Pampanga aimed to service the northern region. About 90 kilometers from Metro Manila via the North Luzon Expressway, the facility’s expanse has elevated loading bays that can receive up to 20 x 40w trucks and side loading bays that can accommodate 4 x 10’ trucks simultaneously. It also boasts of a spacious parking for big trucks and vehicles. The state-of-the-art warehouse, which has an optimum capacity of 5,200 pallets, is properly lit and ventilated and equipped with a Fire Detection and Alarm System.

The Kapayapaan warehouse is the first step of a planned program of northward expansion that includes the opening of another warehouse in the northern Luzon area this year. LBC’s move to strategically erect warehouses close to TPLEX aims to minimize the entry of big trucks into congested and traffic prone cities.

This year, LBC opened yet another warehouse facility located at Lanang, Davao- this time to cater to the booming economies of both Visayas and Mindanao. Boost in sales by 28% from 2018 coming from various key existing and new accounts is reflective of the overall economic uptrend.

Strategically located at 5.5 kms. from the Davao International Airport and only 3.7 kms. from the seaport (Sasa Wharf), the warehouse sits on a 8,215 sqm lot with a covered area of 4,570 sqm. It also has elevated loading bays with up to 12 doors and will soon be installed with solar panels, making the warehouse environment-friendly and cost-efficient.

PH Barista Champion Builds a Coffee School for the Filipinos

Michael Harris Lim, the 2019 Philippine National Barista Champion and the first Filipino to make it to the semi-finals of the World Barista Championship in Boston, USA, opens the Institute for Coffee Excellence, an educational institution committed to developing a variety of educational initiatives that focuses on instilling positive values that will help grow and excel as coffee professionals.

After successfully sharing his advocacies in the international stage, Harris continues to carry out his life’s work of creating a fully-sustainable coffee economy and takes another step towards realizing this vision—by officially opening the Institute for Coffee Excellence.

Since he first ventured in the coffee business in 2001, he has been committed in providing solutions to elevate the quality of local crops and equip the Filipino farmers with tools and knowledge to help them keep up with the evolving industry. But through the competitions, Harris was able to see the industry in the perspective of a barista which made him realize that they also needed training in delivering the best coffee experience. As he stated, “This journey has inspired me to create a space to nurture the baristas and our Filipino coffee farmers.” Thus, he built the Institute for Coffee Excellence to have its thrust work at both ends of the spectrum: for farmers and baristas.

Harris envisions the institute as an instrument in fostering a community that works together for total sustainability to achieve the ultimate goal of having an increasingly steady food and coffee security for the Philippines and for the future generations to come. “The transformation of a community begins with education. In the case of our coffee community, I believe we would have to start by empowering our farmers and baristas with the knowledge, values and passion to work towards a beautiful coffee future,” he shares.

Prior to his participation in the national and world competitions, Harris makes vigorous effort in extending a helping hand to the thriving coffee industry as a social entrepreneur. While he actively supports coffee-producing communities in Benguet through the platforms he built such as the Foundation for Sustainable Coffee Excellence (FSCE) and The Giving Café, his eagerness to create greater initiatives that will benefit the local industry never ceased.

Driving his inspiration from the members of the coffee community, he's also aiming to make the Foundation for Sustainable Coffee Excellence as the country’s National Body licensed by World Coffee Events to hold the next competitions in 2020.
